Anderton Boat Lift

The Anderton Boat Lift is located on the river Weaver 3 miles from Northwich and was constructed in 1875.

Standing 60ft high it is used to transfer boats the 50ft height difference between the river Weaver and the Trent and Mersey canal. There is a visitor centre with an exhibition about the history of the lift and also a boat trip you can take that uses the lift.
