Knowsley Safari Park is a drive-through animal park with about 700 exotic animals to see, plus amusement rides, between Liverpool and St Helens near Junction 2 of the M57.
Some of the big creatures visitors can see on the drive-through section are giraffes, tigers, lions, buffalo, rhino, zebra, elephants and deer. After your drive around safari there is part of the park with rides and some smaller creature enclosures and where the talks and shows occur. In this section there is a bug house with creepy crawlies, a sea lion pool, a bat house and some viewing platforms to see some of the animals in the drive-through part of the zoo and there’s also a woodland walk you can take. The daily scheduled activities that occur here include animal talks, a sea-lion show and a bird of prey display.
Visitors who which to try out the fairground rides will need to purchase a wristband or buy individual tickets for each ride. The rides available include a pirate ship, a carousel, dodgems, swing chairs, honey pots, star dancer, Rattlesnake, Ranger Patrol and there’s also a miniature railway ride. There is also a high ropes adventure course called Ariel Extreme that you can pay to have a go on.
For visitors without their own transport there is a bus that leaves Liverpool City Centre at 10am on certain days and there is also the Baboon Bus that you can buy tickets for at the park which drives round the park twice at weekends. Discounts for groups of 10 or more. Animal encounters, guided tours and keeper experiences available for extra fees.
