Bury Transport Museum

Bury Transport Museum brings the North West's rich industrial and transport history to life. Housed in the beautifully restored Castlecroft Goods Warehouse (1848), this largely indoor museum features interactive galleries, historic artifacts, and a massive collection of vintage vehicles. Visitors can explore steam rollers, trams, buses, tractors, and even a bus simulator to test their driving skills.

• The Collection: A diverse range of road and rail transport, including horse-drawn vehicles and classic steam locomotives.
• Family Friendly: Features "hands-on" exhibits designed for children and regular craft workshops.
• Group Tours: Free tours are available for groups of 10 or more (must be booked in advance).

2026 Update: Admission is often included or discounted if you have a valid East Lancashire Railway ticket.

Expert Tip: June 2026 is a huge month for the museum as the Flying Scotsman returns to the neighboring railway, expect the museum to be very busy during the first two weeks of June!
