Highclere Castle is a Victorian castle with 1000 acres of gardens and parkland near Newbury and the location of the filming for the Downton Abbey TV series.

The castle was previously home to the 5th Earl of Carnarvon, one of the archaeologists who discovered Tutankhamun's tomb and is currently home to the 8th Earl and Countess of Carnarvon. The castle features palatial interiors and amongst the rooms you can see are the state rooms, the bedrooms, the dining room, the library, the smoking room and the drawing room. There is also an exhibit of Egyptian antiquities to view in the cellars.

Things to see in the gardens include a Secret Garden, the Monks garden, a Wild Flower meadow and the Wood of Goodwill.
