Lunt Roman Fort

Lunt Roman Fort is a partially reconstructed turf and timber Roman Fort in Baginton, Warwickshire near Coventry.

Excavations have revealed the site was used around A.D. 60 for a Roman Fort built to help defend against the Boudican uprising around the time. At the junction of two major Roman road, the Fosse Way and Watling Street, the location would also have been near a crossing point for the river Sowe. A number of the building have been reconstructed using the excavation finds as a guide to how it would have looked. Buildings include workshops, a training arena, the main gateway, a granary, administrative buildings, the commander's house and the barrack blocks. There is also a museum exhibit with informational displays and archaeological finds including pieces of Roman armour and horse equipment.
