The National Space Centre is an all-weather attraction about space and space exploration located two miles from Leicester city centre housed in a purpose built centre.
Featuring 6 air-conditioned galleries with more than 150 interactive exhibits, plus the largest full-dome planetarium in the UK and a 3D motion-simulator ride. The centre also has a 42 Metre high, 3 floor, semi-transparent structure called the Rocket Tower which houses some of the attraction's larger exhibits, like the Blue Streak rocket and the Thor Able rocket.
Everything is designed to be both educational and entertaining, so you can have fun while you learn about the history of space exploration and what the future might hold. Climb into the Vostok capsule for the Yuri Gagarin experience. See a real piece of the moon rock and one of only 2 Soyuz space capsules on display anywhere in the West. Learn how the universe began, how life began, about SETI (the Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence), our solar system, the Hubble telescope and enjoy a 30 minute planetarium show. Visit Tranquillity Base, a lunar base station in 2025 and find out about the satellites that orbit our planet and what they do for us and get to record your own weather report.
