Sizergh Castle and Garden

Sizergh Castle and Garden is a medieval castle and gardens in a 1,600 acre estate just outside the lake district near Kendal in Cumbria.

Parts of the castle date back to the 1300's and it is the ancestral home of the Stricklands. Things to see in the house include Elizabethan wood carving and oak panelled rooms, a collection of portraits and period furniture.

The 7 hectares of gardens include kitchen gardens, a Dutch garden, a limestone rock garden, water features, ferns and orchards. The wider estate encompasses pasture and woodlands with the river Kent running through and features walks, a wild play trail for children and geocaching locations.
