Sudbury Hall and the National Trust Museum of Childhood

Sudbury Hall and the National Trust Museum of Childhood is a 17th century stately home and a museum about life of children historically near Uttoxeter.

The house has been home to the Lords of Vernon for 300 years and features rich interiors dating from the Restoration period. Things to see inside include the Long gallery with family portraits, the great staircase with ceiling paintings, the drawing room with wooden carved fireplace surround, the sitting room with a Gainsborough painting, the billiards room, a 1930's kitchen and the family rooms. Room guides and guided tours.

There are also formal gardens which include a planting of lime trees, a lake, parterres and topiary. There is also a Church in the grounds and a woodland outdoor adventure play area for children.

The childhood museum has 8 galleries with many interactive exhibits and audio visual media covering the topics of schooling, working children, the lives of babies, outdoor play, home life, plus a collection of toys and an imagination gallery with story telling and performances.
