Windsor Castle is a historic palace and residence of the Royal family in Windsor town in Berkshire.

The original Windsor castle was constructed in the 11th century but it has been remodelled and extended many times through the centuries. Visitors to the castle can view the State apartments and the semi-State rooms (the semi-State rooms are only viewable between October and March) with incredibly opulent interiors, exquisite antique furnishings and exceptional works of art including paintings by artists such as Rubens and Rembrandt.

There is an exhibition which changes periodically, with a selection of items belonging to the Royal family on display in the Drawings Gallery. Queen Mary's Dolls' House is also available to view and said to be the finest dolls' house in the world. It was made for Queen Mary in 1924 and is complete with flushing toilets, hot and cold running water and electricity. The dolls' house is displayed alongside two French dolls, presented to the Queen and princess Margaret in 1938 by the French government, with their clothes and accessories designed by top fashion designers of the time.

Visitors may also be able to catch the changing of the guard ceremony, which lasts 45 minutes and usually occurs at 11am on Mondays to Saturdays between April and July, but only on alternate days from August to March. Also in the grounds of Windsor castle is St George's Chapel, which is an active place of worship and has fine Gothic architecture and contains the tombs of 10 kings and queens including King Henry VIII and Charles I. The chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays. There are complimentary, 30 minute, guided tours of the castle Precincts every 30 minutes starting from the Courtyard which give an insight into the castle's history and how it is used today and there is also an audio tour included with entry price.
