Woodchester Park is a secluded Cotswold valley near Stroud, featuring a chain of five 18th-century lakes and ancient woodland. The park is home to a variety of historic "lost" buildings, including a 19th-century boathouse that houses a significant colony of bats, an ice house, and a dog kennel.

The valley contains the unfinished Victorian Woodchester Mansion, which is managed separately from the park. While there is no public vehicle access to the house, a seasonal shuttle bus runs from the National Trust car park. The park also features way-marked walking trails and an adventure play area for children with zip wires and climbing logs.

Visitors can now access the park via two locations: the traditional Buckholt entrance for direct valley access, or the newer Tinkley Gate hub which offers a café and wider views across the plateau.

  • Parking: Available at Buckholt (GL10 3TS) and Tinkley Gate (GL10 3UH). Pay and display, or free for members.
  • Tinkley Gate Café: Serving hot drinks, light lunches, and stone-baked pizzas.
  • Mansion Facilities: The separate Mansion Trust operates its own tea room and gift shop during the open season.
  • Dogs: Welcome on leads throughout the park to protect grazing livestock and local wildlife.
  • Horse Riding: Permitted on designated bridle paths; permits or specific access may be required.
