575 Wandsworth Road is a house with decorative wooden fret-work interiors between Battersea and South Lambeth in the city of London.
This National Trust managed property is an early 19th-century, terraced house. The exterior is nothing out of the ordinary, what sets this house apart are the interiors. All the walls, doors and ceilings are beautifully adorned with hand-carved, intricate decorative wooden fret work. They were created by the house's owner, an Kenyan-born writer, poet, philosopher and civil servant over a period of 20 year. The house is accessed by guided tours and booking is required.
