Deva Roman Experience (formerly Dewa Roman Experience)

Deva Roman Experience is an educational attraction about Roman life in Chester city centre in Cheshire.

On the site of an original Roman Fortress this indoor attraction features a museum, an archaeological dig site, reconstructed Roman street and an activity room. The visitor's journey starts in a Roman galley which takes you to a reconstruction of part of the Roman Fortress that used to exist in Chester complete with sights, smells and sounds. The street includes a bath-house, barracks, granary, taverna and market stalls. There is also the archaeological dig site to see featuring Roman, Saxon and Medieval remains including the Roman fortress.

The museum part of the experience displays Roman artefacts discovered both in Chester and from further afield. Lastly there is a hands-on activity room where visitors can try out some Roman-themed activities, like mosaic making and firing a catapult.
