Gold Hill Museum and Garden is a local history museum with a garden in Shaftesbury in Dorset.
Set in two historical buildings, a 1700s sandstone cottage and medieval Priest’s house, the museum has displays and exhibits pertaining to the history of Shaftsbury and the surrounding local catchment area. Included in the items on display are Roman and Saxon archaeological artefacts and items about domestic life and cottage industries. The collection contains photos, costumes, tools, musical instruments and ceramics. There is also an exhibit about Dorset buttons. An important local cottage industry.
The museum also maintains a local history library which contains books, deeds, maps and other historical documents relating to the area. These documents be accessed by members or by a discretionary donation to the museum.
There is also a pretty cottage garden to see with lovely views over the surrounding countryside.
