Papplewick Pumping Station

Papplewick Pumping Station is a historic building and museum with working pumping machinery near Ravenshead in Nottinghamshire.

This attraction is a, very ornately decorated, Victorian waterworks pumping station, situated alongside it's cooling pond. The boiler house contains the boilers to generate the steam and the engine house has the steam-powered pumping machinery used to pump the water. There is also an exhibit area with information about why the station was built, it's history and how it works.

They are 'in steam' on a selected number of days throughout the year. The Steam days occur one weekend per month from July to September, plus one weekend in April and one in October. Check the site's website for specific dates.

There is also a children's play area and ride-on miniature railway.
