Peak Cavern is a natural water-formed limestone cavern, one of four in the area located near the village of Castleton in the Peak District.

Located in a limestone gorge the cave is reached via a riverside walk past some old miners cottages and up to a 280ft sheer cliff face with Peveril castle overhead.

The caves feature largest natural cave entrance in the UK and during the hourly tours the guides will tell you of the history of the caves which were once inhabited and contain what is left of an old village where rope making for the local mines was the main industry. On the tours you will get to see amazing naturally created rock formations, cascading water at Roger Rain's House, the Great Cave, Pluto's Dining Room and the Devil's Cellar, all lit with an atmospheric fibre-optic lighting system.

Ghost tours run around Halloween. A joint ticket can be purchased to visit both this and Speedwell Cavern nearby.
