Built in 1863 to supply water to Sunderland this attraction consists of a grade II listed, historic pumping station with it's working equipment. The buildings house beam engines and three Lancashire boilers to generate the steam. There is also a collection of waterwork accessories to see. The engines are only powered up on 'steaming days' which occur at intervals during the open season.
