Pickford’s House

Pickford's House is a museum of Georgian life and historical clothing in Derby city in Derbyshire.

The museum is a Grade I listed Georgian townhouse dating from 1770 built by the architect Joseph Pickford who lived in Derby at the time. The rooms that are viewable are mainly decorated as they might have been during the early 1800's to demonstrate what life was like for a professional family of the period and their servants.

The family rooms that visitors can see include the dining room, morning room, drawing room, a bathroom, bedroom and dressing room. Some of the servant's areas you can see are a servant's bedroom, the kitchen, scullery and laundry. The basement is also viewable and is presented as a 1940's air raid shelter. There are also exhibit areas displaying a collection of clothing dating from the 18th and 19th centuries and a collection of toy theatres. There is also a garden to view which is laid out as a formal late 18th century garden.
