Shakespeare's Birthplace is the 16th century house in which William Shakespeare was born in Stratford Upon Avon in Warwickshire.

This attraction includes the house in which William Shakespeare lived and worked for over 20 years, in conjunction with the Visitor Centre which houses the gift shop, cafe and exhibition space. The 16th timber-framed house, furnished in keeping with the period of Shakespeare, provides an insight into the period during which William lived and what his life would have been like. Originally owned by William's father, John Shakespeare, who was a glover by trade, the house also features a glover's workshop.

The property also features a walled garden with a lawned area plus vegetables and herbs from Shakespeare's time and is where there are daily presentations by a troupe of professional actors performing parts of Shakespeare plays. The exhibition in the visitor centre changes periodically and displays various artefacts relating to William Shakespeare and includes what is believed to be the only portrait of Shakespeare painted from life. Group tours available for additional fees.

  • Shop selling souvenirs, gifts and books.
  • Cafe serving snacks, cakes and hot and cold drinks.
