Bristol Zoo Gardens is a walk-through wild animal park located in the Clifton area of Bristol set in 12 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens.

With 9 under cover animal houses plus lots of outdoor exhibits there's plenty to see and do whatever the weather. Some of the indoor attractions are the aquarium with more than 70 species of fish (including seahorses and piranha) and an interactive children's play area and the reptile house featuring both reptiles and amphibians including poisonous frogs, tortoises, snakes and crocodiles.

There is a lemur walk-through enclosure (with indoor and outdoor areas), a tropical birdhouse with free-flying birds and a walk-through Feed the lorikeets exhibit where you hand-feed nectar to lorikeets as they perch on your arms and hands. Twilight World is an indoor exhibit that explores the lives of nocturnal creatures including sloths, mole rats, sand cats and mongoose.

The Butterfly Forest is an undercover tropical rainforest themed butterfly house with free-flying butterflies. There is also a walk-through indoor heated free-flight fruit bat enclosure, plus an all-weather meerkat enclosure with viewing tunnels and undercover viewing areas.

In the Bug World exhibit you will journey through the dusky forest onto the marine world, then through the desert zone to Victorian Britain. Zona Brazil featuring animals from the coastal rainforests of Brazil including a greenhouse section.

Outdoor enclosures include the gorilla and gibbon islands, the seal and penguin landscaped coasts exhibit with a simulated beach, cliffs and a shipwreck with underwater walkways, the okapi paddock and a pudu enclosure (the world's smallest deer).

Other attractions at the zoo include Zooropia (extra charge), an activity for children 5 and over consisting of rope climbing nets, plank bridges and balance beams suspended 5 Metres above the floor and a zip wire. There is also the Splash outdoor water play area with paddling stream and beached dinghy, a children's adventure playground and the activity centre with volunteer led activities such as face-painting, card-making and drawing. The Heap of trouble exhibit informs you about the need for recycling and the Terrace theatre features daily animal shows and encounters.
