Hexham Abbey is a historic church previously an abbey, located in Hexham in Northumberland.

The site was originally the location of a Benedictine abbey built for St Wilfrid more than 1300 years ago. Most of the current abbey dates from the 12th and 13th centuries, but some of the underground passageways and rooms from St Wilfrid’s original church remain including an Anglo-Saxon crypt.

Other historic features include the remains of a cross from 740AD that stood above the grave of Saint Acca (a Bishop of Hexham), historic banners, a relief of Flavinus (a Roman soldier), the 'Frith stool' a seat made from a block of sandstone believed to date from the 7th century, a 16th century screen, fragments of sculptured stone some from Wilfred's original church, a stone staircase dating from the 13th century, a 15th century painting of St Wilfrid and stained glass windows made in Victorian times.
